I went for a bike ride tonight and mapped out a short route before I left. When I got going though, I was like: fuck, that’s a REALLY short route. I’ll just keep going down the bike trail and loop around eventually—how hard can it be? Milwaukee is mostly a grid!
Yeah. I wound up by Miller Park, and then biked past some sort of soldier cemetery, and it was definitely not a grid at all, and I had a panic moment where I thought I was accidentally biking an on-ramp to the interstate, but it turned out that I wasn’t. Anyway, I made it home before dark, and I looked up my route and it was a little over 5 miles, which is pretty much the perfect distance for a 30 minute ride, and the bike trial took me past all these crazy abandoned buildings, and I feel like I’m going to be riding this route a lot more often before the weather gets shitty.
